Providing Facilities for Leukaemia Patients and their Families

Online Community

Going through dark times can be a very lonely and isolating experience. At KMMT we want to extend Karen’s hospitality to create a chatroom for our families. Somewhere where you can ask difficult questions, seek support and share advice. We do this through our Facebook page.

Over the years we have built up a community of hundreds of people who have been through the same experience. We hope that this will be a powerful way for you to make use of all the things you never wanted to learn about living with leukaemia.

A massive thank you to @jamescider for this fantastic video of his experience running the London Marathon this year for the KMMT.

New YouTube film is LIVE (linked in bio)

This is a photograph of Karen Morris. On 12th September 1997, Karen was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. Karen immediately began fundraising by fronting a campaign for the Sue Harris Bone Marrow Trust - tens of thousands of £'s were raised.

Just over a year later, Karen lost her fight to live. She was 23 years old.

Inspired by her initiative, Karen's family and friends continued to raise funds for leukaemia patients and their families. Almost 20 years later the @karenmorrismemorialtrust has raised over £3,000,000 ($6,000,000 NZ), with patrons for the charity including @realmattlucas and Professor Charles Craddock.

In April of this year, I returned home to London and ran the @londonmarathon to raise awareness for Karen’s cause, and thanks to the incredible generosity of friends and family, we raised just over £2,000 ($4,000 NZ) for the trust. Six months later, my short film documenting the buildup and my journey back to London, is finished.

This is a film for all those who have fought, and continue to fight against leukaemia. This is a film #ForKaren ❤
